What NDIS physiotherapy includes
NDIS physiotherapy is about building your capacity to do the things in your plan, not just treating a sore spot. Depending on your goals, sessions can include:
- Strength, mobility and movement programs built around your NDIS goals
- Walking and transfer practice (bed, chair, car, community access)
- Balance training and falls prevention
- Pain management for musculoskeletal and neurological conditions
- Equipment and assistive technology recommendations (walkers, rails, wheelchairs)
- Functional assessments and progress reports for plan reviews
- Training for family members and support workers so progress continues between visits
We support participants with a wide range of disabilities (physical, neurological, intellectual and psychosocial) and adults of all ages. Every program starts with listening: what does a good week look like for you, and what's getting in the way?
Self-managed or plan-managed: both welcome
How you pay depends on how your plan is managed:
- Self-managed: we invoice you directly and you claim it back through the NDIS portal.
- Plan-managed: we invoice your plan manager directly, so you don't handle any paperwork.
One honest note: we are not currently a registered NDIS provider, so agency-managed (NDIA-managed) participants can't use our services yet. The NDIS only pays registered providers directly. If you're not sure how your plan is managed, look at the first pages of your plan or call us on 0490 427 392 and we'll help you work it out.
How travel is billed, in plain English
This is the question families and coordinators ask most, so here's the straight answer. The NDIS allows providers to claim the time spent travelling to your home, at your usual session rate, up to a capped number of minutes per visit. Before we start, your service agreement sets out exactly what we charge for travel, in writing, agreed with you first.
Because Shine Alliance schedules visits suburb-by-suburb, travel time is shared and kept as low as possible. You'll never see a travel charge you didn't agree to. We send you our standard service agreement to review before you sign anything.
How to refer: participants, families and coordinators
Referring takes about three minutes, and anyone can do it:
- Fill in our online NDIS referral form, or call us on 0490 427 392 if you'd rather talk it through.
- We contact the participant (or their nominated contact) within one business day.
- We confirm funding, send the service agreement, and book the first visit.
Support coordinators: our referrals page has everything you need, including report turnaround times and our full service area.
