Shine Alliance Mobile Physiotherapy

Hydrotherapy Gold Coast

Warm-water hydrotherapy, also known as aquatic physiotherapy, uses the support of a heated pool to help you move, exercise and recover in ways that can be difficult or painful on land. It is the one Shine Alliance service that happens at a pool rather than in your home, and your physiotherapist meets you there and guides the whole session, one on one.

Who hydrotherapy helps

Warm water does something a treatment room cannot. It takes the weight off painful joints, supports your body while you move, and lets you exercise with far less pain and fear of falling. That makes hydrotherapy one of the most effective and gentle ways to rebuild strength and confidence. It is especially useful for:

What a hydrotherapy session looks like

You meet your physiotherapist at a heated pool, usually kept much warmer than an ordinary swimming pool, which is part of why it feels so good on sore joints. Sessions run in chest-deep water, so you are always standing or supported and never swimming. Your physiotherapist is in the water beside you the whole time.

From there it is a proper, individual physiotherapy session, not a group aqua class. We use the water to guide strength work, walking and balance practice, gentle stretching and movement tailored to your goals. Many clients are amazed at what they can do in the water that they cannot yet manage on land, and that progress carries over into everyday life.

Which pools we use

We run hydrotherapy at heated public pools spread across the Gold Coast, so there is usually one close to you:

We can also often make arrangements to meet you at other pools closer to home. The easiest thing is to call us on 0490 427 392 and we will confirm the most convenient pool near you before your first session.

Funding and costs

Hydrotherapy is funded through the same options as the rest of our services: NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed), Home Care Packages, DVA, Medicare care plans via your GP, WorkCover QLD, private health insurance and private payment.

One simple fee. We cover the pool entry and factor it into your session cost, so there is nothing extra to pay at the door. If you are not sure how your funding applies to hydrotherapy, call us and we will talk it through before you commit to anything.

Hydrotherapy FAQs

Do I need to know how to swim?

No, and this is the question we hear most. Hydrotherapy is done standing or supported in chest-deep warm water, so you are never out of your depth and never swimming. Non-swimmers are completely safe and very welcome. Your physiotherapist is in the water with you the whole time.

Where do the sessions take place?

At heated public pools across the Gold Coast. We regularly use Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, Pimpama Sports Hub Aquatic Centre and Palm Beach Aquatic Centre, which between them cover the north, centre and south of the coast. We can often arrange other pools as well, so call us on 0490 427 392 and we will work out the most convenient pool near you.

Do I have to pay for pool entry on top of the session?

No. We cover the pool entry and factor it into the session cost, so you pay one simple fee with nothing extra at the door. It keeps things easy and predictable.

Is hydrotherapy covered by my funding?

Usually, yes. We provide hydrotherapy for NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed), Home Care Package, DVA, Medicare care plans, private and WorkCover QLD clients. We will confirm exactly what your funding covers before your first session, so there are no surprises.

What should I bring?

Just swimwear, a towel and a water bottle. If you use any walking aids, bring them along and we will help you get safely to and from the water. Change rooms and accessible facilities are available at each pool we use.
