Is this you, or your parent?

Any one of these is a good reason to act now. Falls aren't an inevitable part of ageing. They're largely a strength and balance problem, and strength and balance can be trained at any age.

What a falls prevention program involves

We start with a proper balance assessment using validated tests, so we know your actual risk and have a baseline to measure against. Then we build your program:

Sessions are gentle, progressive and never rushed. Many clients start seeing measurable improvement within six to eight weeks. For families, our blog post "5 things every family should check at home" is a good place to start today.

Funding and costs

Falls prevention physio is commonly funded through Home Care Packages, NDIS plans, DVA and Medicare care plans, as well as privately. GPs and care providers can refer in under three minutes via our referrals page.

Falls prevention FAQs

Does falls prevention exercise actually work?

Yes. It’s one of the best-proven interventions in healthcare. High-quality research shows structured balance and strength programs reduce falls in older adults by around 20–30%, with challenge-based balance training (done safely) being the key ingredient. It works best when it’s tailored, progressive and done consistently, which is exactly what a physiotherapist is for.

My mum has already had a fall. Is it too late?

Not at all. A first fall is actually the most important time to act, because one fall roughly doubles the risk of another. After a fall we assess what contributed (strength, balance, vision, medications, home hazards), rebuild confidence gently, and put a program in place to prevent the next one.

What happens in a balance assessment?

We use standardised, validated tests (things like timed sit-to-stand, walking speed and standing balance under different conditions) to measure your actual falls risk rather than guess at it. You get clear numbers at the start, and we re-test as you progress so you can see the improvement.

Will you check our home for hazards too?

Yes. It’s one of the big advantages of home visits. While we’re there we’ll flag common hazards like loose mats, poor lighting, cluttered walkways and missing grab rails, and recommend simple fixes. Families tell us this check alone is worth the visit.

How is falls prevention physio funded?

Home Care Packages, NDIS plans, DVA and Medicare care plans (via your GP) can all fund falls prevention physiotherapy, or you can pay privately. Call us and we’ll help you find the right path for your situation.

Real reviews from our Google profile.

Jesse is amazing, he is helping me a lot with pain and movement after a fall. He is very polite, understanding and knowledgeable. He is coming to my place so there is no waiting. I am so glad that I found him, thank you Jesse for your help.

Jesse has been regularly visiting my 93 yr cousin after he suffered a broken hip. His mobility was nil and now, after Jesse worked his magic, he can now stand and mobilise with assistance. I can definitely say without Jesse's input my cousin would not be where he is today. Forever grateful to Shine Alliance Physio especially Jesse.

We have had Jesse from Shine Alliance visiting our home for in home physiotherapy. My husband has dementia and his exercises have been helping him to stay active and mobile. He has been very professional and I would definitely recommend Jesse to others looking for in home physio.
